How temporary is temporary? The word “temporary” means a short duration, transitory or continuing for a limited time. The plaintiff wife has continued, renewed or extended a “temporary” order of protection nine times in the past six years. By extending the temporary order of protection for such a long time, the plaintiff, in effect, has had a “permanent” order of protection in excess of the statutory three-year maximum duration.
