This is an appeal from a decree condemning the Umbria for the damages sustained by the Iberia in consequence of a collision which took place between the two steamships on the high sea, about six miles off Rockaway beach, Long Island, on the afternoon of November 10, 1888. There was a dense fog at the time, and had been during the forenoon, but lifting at intervals, a strong breeze blowing from about S. S. W., and a heavy swell rolling in from the same direction.
