The complaint in this action demands the possession of a certain house and lot in the city of New Haven. The answer of the defendant, which was demurred to by the plaintiffs, sets forth the facts that control the case.

Elam Hull of New Haven died in 1863, leaving a valid will, which gave to his widow, Nancy Hull, the real estate described in the complaint, during her natural life, with remainder to his daughter, Louisa Oviatt, then wife of the defendant Henry N. Oviatt, and to her heirs forever. Mrs. Oviatt, the devisee of the remainder, died in 1864 before her mother, having had two children…
