The appellees show a continued and uninterrupted possession of the land in controversy for forty years prior to^ the institution of the present action. The facts proven conduce to show that Gaddie, .the ancestor of the appellees, .purchased the land of one Dudley Rountree in the year 1824 or 1825. Rountree purchased of one Snead in the year 1813, and Snead acquired his title under a sale of the land for taxes made in the year 1806 and received a deed1 from the register of the land office in the year 1812.
