McMILLAN, Judge.

The appellant, Stanley Frieson Washington, was indicted on charges of trafficking in cocaine, distribution of a controlled substance, and two counts of failure to affix tax stamps. The trial court consolidated the cases for trial, which began on November 14, 1996. The State’s first witness violated a pretrial order not to comment on the appellant’s prior trouble with the law, and the trial court granted a mistrial.
