John York departed this life in July, 1868, intestate, leaving a widow, Emma York, and three children, John, Joseph and Emma, all infants. His estate consisted of a lot in Edgefield, on which was his dwelling, and a store, and sixteen or seventeen thousand dollars of personality. The widow qualified as administratrix of his estate, and while acting as such, under an order of the court made at its April term, 1869, upon proceedings had in the name of the children by her, as their next friend, she invested $5,250 of the funds in her hands going to her children, in a lot of land…
