The defendant, Dallas Hawk, was found guilty of two offenses of aggravated battery involving one victim, and the offense of harassing a witness after a jury trial in the Circuit Court of Union County. On appeal, defendant contended that he could not be convicted of two separate offenses of aggravated battery arising from one act. Prior to our decision in People v. Hawk (1980), 80 Ill. App. 3d 827, 400 N.E.2d 499, defendant filed a post-conviction petition (Ill. Rev.
