OPINION

Following a jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County, defendant Rodney Adkins was found guilty of first degree murder (720 ILCS 5/9 — 1(a) (West 2002)), home invasion (720 ILCS 5/12 — 11(a)(2) (West 2002)), and residential burglary (720 ILCS 5/19 — 3(a) (West 2002)).
