Mary Phelps instituted suit against Southeastern Elevator Company, a partnership composed of W. E. Callahan and Garland S. Eadford, and against the members of the partnership individually, to recover damages for personal injuries alleged to have been received by her on January 23, 1941, in falling, after stepping into an elevator shaft after she had opened the door to the shaft believing that she was stepping into the elevator. The following are in substance the material allegations of the petition:
