The defendant, Hotel Dieu, is a religious corporation organized for the purpose of maintaining and operating a hospital. The services of the hospital are given free to those who cannot afford to pay; and all sums received for services are expended in the maintenance of the establishment, the payment of a mortgage debt, and of an annual sum for the maintenance of the mother organization located in another state.
