This is an appeal from a judgment of conviction upon the verdict of the jury finding appellant guilty of murder in the first degree and fixing his penalty at death.
On the 12th day of September, 1947, the grand jury of Lake County returned an indictment against Thomas Kallas, charging him with the first degree murder of George Stocks on the 3rd day of September, 1947, by cutting and stabbing him to death.
