OPINION
SHEA, Justice.
This is an appeal from a judgment for the defendants entered in the Superior Court which denied the plaintiffs’ request for permanent injunction. We affirm the judgment below.
On May 29, 1986, plaintiffs Ellen Sea-bury Henry, Anne DiMase, Cheryl Lee Cur-do, Barbara Deion, Suzanne M. Waterous, Elizabeth Daniels, Karen R. Butterfield, and the American Civil Liberties Union, Rhode Island Affiliate, filed a class action in Providence County Superior Court against defendants J.
