This matter is a dispute over the U.S. Department of the Interior’s determination of the legitimate government and membership of the California Valley Miwok Tribe (“Tribe”), a federally recognized Indian tribe. Defendants are Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Larry Echo Hawk, and Director of the Bureau of Indian Affairs Michael Black.
