The plaintiffs instituted an action of debt under the statute of Virginia, in the circuit court of the district of Columbia, for the county ,of Alexandria, against Jacob Hoffman and the defendant upon a bill of exchange drawn by the said Hoffman, and dated the 3d of January 1824-.
