*426 ¶ 1 Plaintiff, Crest Hill Land Development, LLC (CHLD), filed suit against defendant, John C. Conrad, to quiet title and for slander of title in relation to an industrial park that CHLD had developed. Conrad counterclaimed for money that he was allegedly owed pursuant to a novation and joined as third-party defendants certain entities that had purchased a portion of the industrial park property from CHLD or that had otherwise acquired an interest in the property after Conrad had recorded the novation.
