Defendant, Jason Digirolamo, was charged by indictment in Madison County with one count of failing to report an accident involving personal injury or death (625 ILCS 5/11 — 401(b) (West 1992)) and with two counts of obstructing justice by the destruction of evidence (720 ILCS 5/31 — 4(a) (West 1992)). A jury returned a verdict finding defendant guilty of failure to report an accident resulting in a person’s death and one count of obstructing justice.
