FLAHERTY, Justice.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania appeals from an order of the Superior Court reversing the judgment of *447sentence entered against appellee Michael DeGeorge and remanding for a new trial, having determined that appellee DeGeorge was denied effective assistance of counsel due to trial counsel’s failure to object to the trial court’s acceptance., of DeGeorge’s waiver of jury trial without conducting an on-the-record colloquy as prescribed by Rule of Criminal Procedure 1101.1
