In May 1996, the State filed a petition for adjudication of wardship, alleging that respondent, C.K.G., who was then 15 years old, was a delinquent minor because he committed the offenses of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of weapons, and aggravated discharge of a firearm (720 ILCS 5/24 — 3.1(a)(1), 24 — l(a)(10), 24— 1.2(a)(2) (West 1994)).
