Lake v. Tyree

Argued at Richmond. Decided at Wytheville. Error to judgment of circuit court of Madison county, rendered September 20, 1891, in an action of debt on a protested inland bill of exchange, wherein William R. Tyree was plaintiff, and Robert P. Lake was defendant. Judgment having gone against the latter, he obtained a writ of error and supersedeas from one of the judges of this court. Opinion states the case.

This was an action of debt to recover the amount of a certain check for $1,100, and $2 50, costs of protest. The cheek was given by the defendant to the plaintiff on the 9th of October, 1890, in payment of ten shares of the capital stock of the Goshen Land and Improvement Company and four lots of land situate in Goshen, which had been drawn, the day before, by the plaintiff as the owner of the said shares.
