In the year 1896, and for many years prior thereto, many lands in the township of Hill, in Ogemaw county, were delinquent for taxes, and had been bid off to the State for a consecutive period of more than three years, no application having been made to redeem or purchase *183the same, when the township board of the township, by resolution at a meeting held in December, 1896, requested the auditor general and the commissioner of the state land office to examine these lands for the purpose of placing them on the tax homestead list, under sections 127 to 134, inclusive, of Act No. 206 of the Public…
