Dear Mr. Opat:

You request our opinion on the legality of "strip-searches" of pre-trial detainees, in light of K.S.A. 22-2521 and 22-2524(b) and recent case law. You are concerned that case law does not support the statutory provisions allowing strip searches in specific situations.
