The defendants were arrested by members of the New Jersey State Police and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office for violations of the gambling laws, N. J. S. 2A :112 — 1 et seq. The summary arrests took place on August 4, 1955 on board the S. S. Peter Stuyvesant, a New York excursion vessel, carrying passengers from New York City to Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey.
