The Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad Company was duly incorporated under the laws of Illinois on the 6th day of June, 1894, for the period of fifty years. Its capital stock was $25,000,000, It owned and operated certain lines of railroad in Illinois and connected at the Indiana line with the Evansville and Terre Haute Railroad Company, an Indiana corporation, which owned a line of railroad in the State of Indiana which terminated in the city of Evansville, in the said State.
