On November 5, 1930, a petition for a charter for a corporation of the first class to be known as The Philharmonic Orchestra Association of Philadelphia was presented to the court. The purpose of the organization is to support and promote musical, dramatic and artistic education and to establish and maintain the Philadelphia Philhar*686monie Orchestra.
