Defendant Moisés Casipe (Defendant) appeals from his conviction of manslaughter, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) § 707-702 (1976). Defendant presents three issues on appeal: (1) whether the trial court erred in denying Defendant’s motions for mistrial on the grounds that the court-appointed interpreter ineffectively translated Defendant’s testimony and failed to diligently translate to Defendant the testimony of other witnesses who testified at the trial; (2) whether Defendant was deprived of effective assistance of counsel when his court-appointed attorney failed…
