The defendant, Lorenzo Wilson, was charged by information with four counts of murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, pars. 9 — 1(a)(1) and (2)), two counts of attempted murder (111. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 8 — 4(a)) and two counts of armed violence (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 33A — 1). Following a jury trial in the circuit court of Lake County, he was found not guilty of attempted murder but guilty of murder and voluntary manslaughter. He was sentenced to consecutive terms of natural life on the murder conviction and an extended term of 14 years for the voluntary manslaughter.
