Crane, J.

This is an action, inter alia, to recover damages for alleged multiple acts of medical malpractice perpetrated upon the plaintiff Karen Sheppard (hereinafter the mother) and her then unborn child, the infant plaintiff, Jo’ell Sheppard-Mobley.

In July 1999 the mother sought treatment for abdominal discomfort from her obstetrician, the defendant Dr. Leslie A. King, who was employed by the defendant Obstetrical & Gynecological Services of Rockville Centre (hereinafter OGSRC). Dr. King examined the mother, performed a sonogram, and determined that she was pregnant.…
