A jury found Michael S. Shields guilty of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, all in connection with the fatal shooting of Denise Hill. Shields challenges his. convictions and the denial of a new trial on the grounds that the evidence was insufficient that he caused the victim’s death, the trial court erred by giving certain instructions to the jury, and trial counsel rendered ineffective assistance.
