The plaintiff, Jerry E. Spillman, filed this suit against the L. O. Stocker Company and its insurer, Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company, in which he seeks to recover under the Compensation Act, Act No. 20 of 1914, as amended, for an injury received on October 17, 1947 while he was engaged as an iron worker for the defendant company. There is no dispute as to the accident nor the manner in which it happened; that is, that the index finger of plaintiff's left hand was caught under a jack lever and severely mashed and crushed.
