On April 14, 1883, the charter of the appellant was amended under the general law, and in that it was provided, in addition to powers otherwise given, that it should have power “also to construct, own, operate, equip and maintain a branch of said railway, to be called the eastern branch thereof, commencing at a point on its main line in Burleson county, about two miles north of the Tegua, thence easterly through the counties of Burleson, Brazos, Grimes and Montgomery, to a point on the International & Great Northern Railroad, within three miles of the Lemuel Smith…
