Phillip Wayne Tomlin was convicted under Alabama's 1975 death penalty statute of first degree murder wherein two or more people are intentionally killed by one or a series of acts and of first degree murder done for a pecuniary or other valuable consideration or pursuant to a contract or for hire. Sections 13-11-2 (a)(10) and (7), Code of Alabama (1975) (repealed).
