DeMOSS, Circuit Judge:
Miguel DeSantiago-Gonzalez (“DeSan-tiago”) appeals from the sentence imposed by the district court after he pleaded guilty to attempting to unlawfully reenter the United States after deportation in violation of 8 U.S.C. § 1326.
BACKGROUND
The facts of this case are quite simple and are undisputed. Miguel DeSantiago was deported from the United States in January, 1999, He attempted to reenter the United States at the Paso del Norte port of entry in El Paso, Texas on February 14, 1999, and he pleaded guilty to illegal reentry by a deported alien in violation of 8 U.S.C. §…
