This is a suit by Gordon Lang and others to enjoin the City of Portland from using block No. 132 in said city as a site for the erection of a public auditorium. In the complaint it is alleged that the original owners of the town site, Stephen Coffin, Daniel H. Lownsdale and W. W. The pleadings of this case deal largely in historical recitals, in which there is, fortunately, but slight, if any, divergence. Since these historical facts are of large importance in determining the issues herein, it will be well to state briefly such as we deem of value in elucidating the questions involved.
