This case concerns postcommitment provisions of the Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act (Act) (725 ILCS 207/1 et seq. (West 2000)). Following the completion of his sentence for criminal sexual assault, respondent was committed to the Department of Human Services (Department). In connection with a mandatory reexamination procedure under the Act, he requested the appointment of an independent evaluator.
