This action was brought to recover the sum of ¡¡$1,000, stipulated in a written agreement, to be paid by the defendants to the plaintiffs. Upon the trial at the Circuit Court, the defendants insisted that the promise was void, because the consideration was illegal, and the plaintiffs were therefore not entitled to recover. The judge reserved the question for determination here, and a verdict was rendered for the plaintiffs, which the defendants now seek to set aside.
