In each of the foregoing cases a rule was allowed requiring the respondent to show cause why a writ of certiorari should not be allowed to review a resolution adopted by .the common council of the respondent on the 1st day of *399January, 1917, rest*hiding a previous resolution of the council appointing the two prosecutors to the positions of patrolmen and abolishing the positions which they held.
