VIOSCA, Justice.
Suit was brought by the State of Louisiana, through the Department of Highways, under the provisions of LSA-R.S. 19:1 et seq. for the expropriation of property belonging to Charles R. Stoer pursuant to the construction of the Broadmoor-Shreveport Highway as a part of the realignment and improvement of the highway then known as State Route No. 20 and now known as State Route Louisiana 1.
