On February 1, 1945, defendant, the appellant herein, was convicted on trial before a jury of the offense of offering and promising a bribe to a member of the house of representatives of the State of Michigan. A notice of motion for a new trial was filed February 17, 1945, which motion was denied on March 20, 1945. Defendant on leave granted filed his claim of appeal, August 7, 1945.
