This is an action arising out of the murder of Jessica Lea Briggs who, while a resident of the Maine Youth Center, was killed alter she left its premises without permission. 1 The plaintiffs, Kathleen A. Maynard and Howard L. Briggs, Jessica’s - parents, appeal from the entry of an order in the Superior Court (Cumberland County, Lipez, J.) granting defendants 2 relief from a default judgment, and from the summary judgment entered (Bradford, J.) in favor of the defendants.
