Petitioner Alicia Moore appeals from a decision of the superior court upholding the non-renewal of her teaching contract by respondent Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education (the “Board”). On appeal, Ms. Moore primarily argues that the Board deprived her of a statutory right to have an evidentiary hearing before the Board on the non-renewal issue. Based upon our review of the plain language of the pertinent statutes as well as controlling precedent from the North Carolina appellate courts, we hold that the trial court properly concluded that Ms. Moore was not entitled to the…
