One of the principal questions presented - by the record in this case, grows out of the certificate of bankruptcy, which is set up in the third plea as a defence to the action. We have been referred to. a number of adjudications, made on the British bankrupt laws, and, upon our bank*478rupt act of 1800, which tend to show, that under those acts, a certificate of bankruptcy did not relieve the bankrupt from contingent liabilities like the present.
