This is an appeal from the District Court’s judgment reversing the Secretary’s denial of claimant’s application for disability benefits under the Social Security Act, 42 U.S.C. §§ 301 et seq. For the reasons stated below, we reverse.

The claimant, Aileen Burton, worked for 16 years as a salesperson-cashier in clothing stores. She has an eighth grade education. At the time of her hearing on October 7, 1986, before an administrative law judge of the Department of Health and Human Services, she was 58 years old.
