The defendant was charged with, and

found guilty of, larceny in the second degree in violation of § 53a-123 of the General Statutes, which provided: “(a) A person is guilty of larceny in the second degree when: (1) The property consists of a motor vehicle, or (2) the value of the property or service exceeds five hundred dollars, (b) Larceny in the second degree is a class D felony.” Section 53a-119 (8) defined larceny as: “Beceiving stolen property.
