HANSEN, Circuit Judge.
Daniel Eugene Whitnack and Isidora Arel-lano, Jr., filed this action under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 against Douglas County and three employees of the Douglas County Correctional Center. The plaintiffs alleged that the defendants deprived them of their constitutional rights by denying them medical care and by confining them in an unclean cell. A jury returned verdicts for defendants Douglas County, Joseph Vitek, and John Rocca-forte on all claims; for defendant Ernesto Fierro on the medical-care claims; and for *956the plaintiffs on their claims concerning the unclean cell.
