OPINION

CRIPPEN, Judge.

In this defamation suit, appellant Robert Hunter, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon and former orthopedic consultant to the University of Minnesota football program, sued respondent Sid Hartman, a well-known sports writer and radio commentator in Minnesota, for statements respondent made about appellant on respondent’s weekly radio sports talk show. The trial court granted summary judgment for respondent, who claimed that appellant was a limited purpose public figure who must prove actual malice to succeed as a plaintiff in a defamation action, and that appellant’s evidence…
