A jailor who abused his power found himself in the defendant's chair. He was indicted for beating up an inmate and filing a false report to cover it up. The charges required the government to prove that the jailor acted purposefully. So the government notified the jailor that it intended to introduce testimony that the jailor had also battered a different prisoner and concealed that crime.
