We are asked to determine whether a board of county road commissioners, as a governmental agency responsible for the maintenance of roadways pursuant to MCL 224.21 and 691.1402; MSA 9.121 and 3.996(102), may be impleaded by a defendant-third-party plaintiff on a claim for contribution pursuant to MCL 600.2925; MSA 27A.2925. As a corollary thereof, we are required to determine whether, assuming that such a third-party defendant may be impleaded pursuant to a claim for contribution, the third-party plaintiffs’ claims in these cases are barred by the statute of limitations.
