The city of Chicago instituted proceedings under the Local Improvement act for the improving of Twelfth street by .widening it from Michigan avenue to South Ashland avenue. A strip of land on the south side of the street 68 feet wide in some places, 52 feet wide in some places and 42 feet wide in other places was condemned for the improvement, the cost of which was to be paid by special assessment.
