Defendant, James Michael Welch, timely appeals his conviction, on a jury verdict, of violation of 18 U.S.C. § 871, 1 a threat to take the life of or to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States. 2 Defendant was charged with knowingly and willfully making a threat to take the life of and to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, on or about December 30, 1981, in the State and District of Colorado, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 871.
