| Jn this criminal case, Defendant, Clarence G. Guidry, Jr., appeals his eight-year sentence as a result of his conviction of aggravated battery, alleging excessive sentence. For the following reasons, we affirm.

Defendant was charged by bill of information in count one with aggravated battery, a violation of La.R.S. 14:34, and in count two with possession of marijuana, first offense, a violation of La.R.S. 40:966(E)(1).
